WHO WE ARE.

Our Mission.

Established in 1990 by Karen Slater, the Mississippi Mills Liaison Committee's (MMLC) mission is to meet the unmet needs of residents of Mississippi Mills in the areas of, but not limited to, health and safety. The MMLC strives to improve the quality of life of individuals, thereby strengthening our community.

One Piece of a Bigger Puzzle.

The MMLC is part of the larger Mississippi Mills social service net. MMLC members employ collaboration, coordination and partnership to enhance our community.

The MMLC comprises caring members of faith groups and organizations with a shared desire to improve the quality of life for Mississippi Mills residents in need of support. Today the committee comprises members of 12 faith groups, service clubs and non-profit organizations. See a full list of the member organizations here.

You Can be a Member.

Membership in the MMLC is open to all community service clubs, faith groups and non-profits.

Living our Mission.

The MMLC lives its mission by bringing caring community organizations together to share the expenses needed to support Mississippi Mills residents in need.

Membership and participation are entirely voluntary. Members remain governed by and responsible to the organizations they represent and choose at their discretion which cases they are able to support.

Our Focus.

In Mississippi Mills there are significant unmet needs especially in the area of assistive devices and supports such as dentures. In some cases, waiting lists can be as long as seven years. It is in this context that the MMLC focuses its efforts.

Governance.

Members of the MMLC remain governed by and responsible to the organizations they represent. They choose at their discretion which cases they are able to support. Committee members consider and vote on all requests based on its mission and with an understanding that it may not be possible to approve every request.
